Humbug Santa tutorial

SUPPLIES

 

1. Start with a new canvas  580 x 508. Create a new layer. Load selection, mittens. Flood fill with color #141021.  Selections, Float. Apply cutout, color white, Opacity=100, Blur=21.5, V=0, H=0. Deselect.

 

2. Create a new layer. Load selection, left and right sleeves. 
Flood fill with checks.jpg, Scale=100, Angle=0. Deselect.

 

3. Create a new layer.  Load selection, sleeve shadow . Flood fill each sleeve once only with color #5E161A. Deselect.

 

4. Create a new layer. Load selection, body.  Flood fill with checks.jpg, same scale and angle as before. Selections, Float. Apply cutout, color white, H=0, V=0, Blur=24, Opacity=40. Deselect.

 

5. Create a new layer. Load selection, body shadows.  Flood fill only once with color #CB8643. Deselect.

 

6. Create a new layer.  Load selection, cuffs.  Flood fill with color #CB8643. Selections, Float. Apply cutout, color #97500B, H=0, V=0, Opacity=100, Blur=24 . Deselect.

 

7. Create a new layer. Load selection, hat.  Flood fill with color #BC3030. Flood fill with checks.jpg.  Selections, Float. Apply cutout, color #5E161A, H=0, V=0, Opacity=100, Blur=24. Apply cutout again, changing only V to -11. Deselect.

 

8. Create a new layer  Load selection, hat cuff. Flood fill with color #CB8643. Selections, Float. Apply cutout, color #97500B, H=0, V=-9,  Opacity=100, Blur=24. Deselect.

 

9. Create a new layer. Load selection, hat and sleeve stitching 1. Flood fill with color #A95A0C. Deselect. Lower layer opacity to 70%

 

10. Create a new layer. Load selection, hat and sleeve stitching 2. Flood fill will color #F9C36F. Deselect. Lower layer opacity to 70%.

 

11. Create a new layer. Load selection, hat and sleeve stitching 3. Flood fill with color #A95A0C. Deselect.  Lower layer opacity to 70%.

 

12. Create a new layer. Load selection, face. Flood fill with color #E9C1AF. Selections, Float.  Apply cutout, color #CC7C6A, H=0, V=0, Opacity=100, Blur=24. Apply cutout once more. Deselect.

 

13. Create a new layer. Load selection, cheeks. Flood fill lightly only once with #DF8989. Deselect. Lower layer opacity to 75%.

 

14. Create a new layer.  Load selection, beard. Flood fill with beard.jpg. Selections, Float. Apply cutout, color #CCB48A, H=0, V=0,  Opacity=100, Blur=24. Deselect.

 

16. Create a new layer. Load selection, beard shadows. Flood fill once only with color #CCB48A. Deselect.

 

17. Create a new layer. Load selection, mustache. Flood fill with color #F1EAD8. Selections, Float. Apply cutout, color#CCB48A, V=9, H=0, Opacity=100. Deselect.

 

18. Create a new layer. Load selection, nose.  Flood fill with color # E9C1AF. Selections, Float.  Apply cutout, V=0 & H=0, color #CE4E4E, Opacity=80, blur=12.5. Deselect.  Add drop shadow, color #CCB48A, V=3, H=0, Opacity=65, Blur=4.9. Deselect.

 

19. Create a new layer. Load selection, pompom.  Flood fill with color #F1EAD8.  Selections, Float. Apply cutout, color #CCB48A, V=0, H=0, 0pacity=100, Blur=12.5. Deselect.

 

20. Create a new layer..  Load selection, banner. Flood fill with
color #285E4C. Selections, Float.  Apply cutout, color #142E25. Deselect.

 

21. Create a new layer. Load selection, humbug text. Flood fill
with color #CCB48A. Deselect.  With mover tool, adjust the placement. Add a drop shadow if you like.

 

22. Create a new layer. Load selection, eyes. Flood fill with black. Deselect.  Apply inner bevel with these settings: Round preset, width=14, smoothness=15, depth=12, ambiance=0, shininess 73, angle=315, intensity=50,
elevation=30. Deselect.

 

23. Create a new layer.  Load selection, eyebrows. Flood fill once only with color #F2ECE0. Deselect.

 

24. Create a new layer. Load selection, hair. Flood fill once only with color #F2ECE0. Deselect

 

Merge layers, visible. Save as a psp file, or export as a tube.
